Step 1 — Create an eCitizen Account
Go to ecitizen.go.ke → Register. Use your National ID number, a working email, and a Safaricom number. Verify via OTP.
Step 2 — Search for Your Business Name
Click Business Registration Service (BRS) → Business Name Registration → Name Search. Tips: avoid generic words like "Kenya" or "National" as the first word; add your location or specialty; have 3 alternatives ready.
Step 3 — Submit the Application
Once your name passes, click Proceed to Register. Fill in: business name, nature of business, principal place of business (county), and proprietor/partner details.
Step 4 — Pay KSh 950
Generate an e-Slip and pay via M-Pesa Paybill 222222 (account number from your e-Slip) or at any Huduma Centre.
Step 5 — Download Your Certificate
Processing takes 1–3 business days (often same-day). Download your Certificate of Registration directly from eCitizen — it is a legally valid PDF.
